Garbage Collection 

The Town of Kiawah Island provides a comprehensive solid waste program for property owners. This service includes garbage, recycling and yard debris collection.     All 35 gallon recycling carts must be placed curbside or at the backdoor, depending on your service type, each Wednesday. Recycling is now single stream meaning that all recyclable materials can be placed in one container without sorting.   This makes it easier and less time consuming for residents to recycle.

Yard debris service takes place on Thursdays.  Also included are special collections for brown trash, electronic waste and hazardous materials. Property owners are billed directly for of their selected service, and pay the balance of the cost aqs subsidized by the Town.  The FY2013 subsidy rate is $176.  There is no cost for curbside collection as a result of this subsidy. A full detailed listing of the service types and corresponding costs is outlined below. Bills are mailed annually in July for the service year of July 1 to June 30. If you wish to change the type of service you receive, please contact the Town. Service changes are only received once a year in the month of April.
