IS YOUR POWER OUT?
Check to see if your circuit panel or fuse box has tripped or blown a fuse. If it has tripped reset the breaker or replace the blown fuse.

Check disconnect on outside just below meter base.

Check with neighbors to see if they have power.

Call Berkeley Electric Cooperative’s outage reporting system at 1-888-253-4232 FREE. “Be sure to follow all directions carefully.”

Turn off all household appliances, computers, televisions, and air conditioning and heating units, etc. When power is restored, turn on items one at a time.
Electricity
Berkeley Electric Cooperative provides electric service to Kiawah Island and is a state-of-the-art electric utility serving over 80,000 accounts in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties with over 5,000 miles of line connecting them all together. This makes BEC the largest electric cooperative in South Carolina, and one of the top 25 in the nation. The electricity lines on the Island are all underground and available Island-wide. The cooperative works hard to maintain the electric lines on the Island, but power outages are common due to severe weather or damage to lines.

Water & Sewage
Water and waste water service to Kiawah Island is provided by Kiawah Island Utility. For more information about the utility or to request service, discuss billing our outages, please call 843-768-0641
Cable Service
Cable services on the Island are provided by various companies at the resident’s personal preference. The largest provider is Comcast Cable.  The second-largest provider is AT&T.

Telephone Service
The majority of household telephone service is provided by AT&T.  To learn more about the varied telephone service options including wireless service, please contact AT&T at 888-757-6500.
